Cookies

Last week I made Blackberry Jam Sandwiches. It took a long time, but I finished them early Sunday morning. They came out good, except some of the cookies were kind of crumbly. I had some today.

The next recipe will be Quesadillas.

Two new recipes

Last week I made American Sponge Cake from “The Joy of Cooking”. It came out pretty good. It wasn’t too dry and it had lemon zest and orange zest. It was the first time I made Sponge Cake.

The next recipe I want to try is Pumpkin Walnut Muffins. Maybe I can make them Friday. I also want to make Cajun Chicken over Rice.

Another week

It is Tuesday. I haven’t done any cooking or baking for a while. I checked out some recipes in a cookbook titled “Heirloom Baking with the Brass Sisters.” I’m not sure what to do next. I have four books out from the library, most of them about food. I haven’t been watching Food Network for a while.

Another week ahead

I haven’t chosen a recipe to cook this week. I will make something simple, like quesadillas.

I have four books out from the library about food. One of them is “The River Cottage Preserves Handbook.” It is very interesting. It has recipes for jams and jellies, pickles, chutneys, relishes, and cordials.

I will try again next week to choose a recipe.

This week

No recipe to cook this week yet. I have some tortillas and black beans to make quesadillas. But no recipe yet. I have four books out from the library, all of them about food.

I will do some food shopping tomorrow. Maybe there’s something interesting on t.v. tonight.

Cake Success

I made a delicious pound cake yesterday. It was from a magazine I bought in 2019. It is called Ultimate Southern Cream Cheese Pound Cake. When I tried it today, it wasn’t dry or too moist, the crumb tasted just right, the cream cheese flavor wasn’t too pronounced, and the crust had a nice crunchy top. My friends Rosanne and Pete liked it. It was a tall, rich cake that paired well with coffee and also tea.

I freezed some of the cake, and I still had some leftover cake that I placed in my refrigerator.
